Do paints contain lead?

Paints supplied for DIY use do not contain any added lead. Lead-based pigments have not been used in paints sold to the general public for many years.

Paints containing lead are still available for use by professionals. These are sometimes needed for industrial and heritage uses. They are adequately labelled to indicate the hazards of the product.
