Dear Member

You may recall that in December last year I announced my personal decision to retire from the post of Chief Executive Officer of the British Coatings Federation after the 2012 Annual Conference. It has been a very eventful and enjoyable three years and I heartily recommend the job to future generations of CEOs. I shall leave the BCF on June 29th and am planning a portfiolio of part-time consulting work in Europe and the USA, mixed with time spent on a number of hobbies including travel, music and the theatre.

I am delighted to announce that my successor is Tom Bowtell, until recently the General Manager and Director of Proskills UK. Tom has extensive experience of the Paint Industry, having worked for AkzoNobel for 19 years predominantly in the Vehicle Refinish Sector. He has spent several years working in Poland and the USA as well as the UK in marketing management, sales leadership and project management roles. During his time with Proskills, he has managed the provision of training resources and guidance, not only to the Coatings Industry, but also to the Printing Industry amongst others. He has managed a team of over 40 people and seen it through a major restructuring process.

Tom has a BA degree in Decision Making and Communication from Bournemouth University. He is married with three children and, to use his own words, is passionate about orienteering, running, cycling and football. Tom will be based at the BCF’s new offices in Leatherhead and joins the BCF formally on June 21st .

Please join me in welcoming Tom to the BCF.

Best regards,

Tony Mash
Chief Executive
