Social Media Seminar a success

17th June 2011
On the 15th June the BCF held its first seminar aimed at providing delegates with an insight into the importance of social media, which included a practical workshop giving a step-by-step guide to getting started.

The social media revolution cannot be ignored. Facebook now has 600 million users worldwide, spending 770 billion minutes on the site each month. Every day there are 95 million Tweets - four times the amount in 2010 - and two billion videos are viewed on You Tube. And don’t be mistaken into thinking it’s a youngphenomenon - most users of Twitter are aged between 30-44 (and in business, predominantly for B2B) and nearly 5% of those who use Facebook are over 55.

The session focused on how both B2C and B2B companies are now utilising social media, with best practice examples. Aimed at the novice, the seminar also went right back to basics, from setting up a Twitter account and Tweeting, through to posting photos, videos and polls onto your Facebook business page.

As part of the day, the BCF was set up live on Twitter and Facebook. We’re now in the very early stages of developing content - but in anticipation why not start following @The_BCF on Twitter or ‘like’ the British Coating Federation Facebook page.

If the content of this session sounds of interest to you, please let us know as we are now considering running further seminars.
