Preserving Resources

28th December 2010

Coatings are also saving our natural resources – energy, wood and metal ores. Take wood, for example. Coatings preserve and protect things made from wood so they last longer and we need to cut down fewer trees. Coatings also enable us to use less of the precious hard woods and replace them with renewable-forest-soft woods, which would otherwise be unsuitable for construction purposes.

Coatings save precious metals like steel and aluminium – and the fuel needed to make them – by preventing them being eaten up by corrosion and rust. Our cars and industrial and domestic equipment last much longer. The savings to the economy and the environment are incalculable but immense.
